Scenting Amélie

For this project, I transformed a cinema screening of Amélie into an olfactory experience.

The cinema itself was perfumed, while selected scenes of the film were accompanied by individual scents, diffused into the auditorium at specific moments.

The intervention translated elements of the film, its places, objects, emotions and memories, from the visual and narrative realm into the sense of smell. The audience was therefore not only watching the story, but experiencing it through the air around them.

The project explores scent as a cinematic medium: an invisible layer that can alter perception, trigger memories and create an atmosphere beyond the screen.
